The city has a population of approximately 2,900 people, with a school system consisting of a pre-kindergarten through second grade elementary, a third grade though sixth grade elementary, a junior high, and a high school. 19 properties in Chandler are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, which include a filing station, several homes and churches, and commercial buildings.
