NORMAN, Oklahoma -- OU men's basketball coach Lon Kruger announced Wednesday that Oklahoma junior guard Steven Pledger will be suspended by the school for the Sooners' season opener against Idaho State on Friday.

The suspension is due to impermissible participation in a pro-am game this past summer.

Pledger will be reinstated for OU's second game of the season (Nov. 18 against Coppin State).

He averaged 10.9 points for the Sooners during the 2010-11 season.

The Sooners tip off against Idaho State at 7 p.m. Friday.
