TULSA, Oklahoma -- ORU coach Scott Sutton and the Golden Eagles received letters of intent from two high school players on Wednesday during the start of the early signing period.

Jorden Kaufman, a center from Andover, Kan., and Corbin Byford, a forward from Velma, Okla., both made their decisions official on Wednesday morning.

Kaufman is a force in the paint at 6-11, 245 pounds but missed part of last season due to injury. He was listed among the top 70 centers in the nation by ESPN.

Kaufmen's high school coach Jesse Herrmann said Kaufman has grown seven inches since his freshman year and still might not be at his full height.

Sutton said he and his staff are impressed with Kaufman's size and potential.

"He's a big center with very good skills who will come in and compete against Damen as a freshman," he said. "Jorden has a chance to have a major impact on our program."

Corbin Byford is a 6-6, 210-pound forward from Velma-Alma High School in Oklahoma. Sports certainly run in Byford's family, as his father Lyndle was a linebacker at OU and his sister Megan played basketball recently for Oklahoma State.

Byford averaged 21.4 points and 11.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore.

"It is great to add an in-state kid to recruit class," Sutton said. "Corbin has a chance to be a really good player for us. He is a great athlete, a great student, and is very explosive around the basket."
