Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel was arrested Wednesday night for driving while intoxicated by sheriff deputies in Boone County Missouri.

According to a statement released by Pinkel, he was pulled over after leaving dinner with friends, and goes on to apologize for his actions.

"I am very disappointed in myself for my lack of judgment in this instance. Nobody should drink and drive, including me," Pinkel said in the release. "My staff and I constantly reinforce with each of our players the importance of not putting yourself into a position such as this. I did not follow that here and for that, I sincerely apologize to the University of Missouri, to our administration, to the Board of Curators and to our fans."

Officers report that he was cooperative and this is his first offense. Pinkel posted a $500 bond and was released from a Boone County Jail.

A season ago, Pinkel suspended two players and an assistant coach for their involvements in separate DWI cases.

Pinkel and the Tigers are set to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Columbia, Missouri at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
