STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Learning experiences are great for young teams, but they are even better when you can learn from it and still manage to pull out a victory.

Oklahoma State did just that in a hard-fought 59-56 victory over Tulsa at Gallagher-Iba Arena on Wednesday night.

The Cowboys led for almost the entire first half, but found themselves trailing Tulsa 50-43 with 5:49 to play.

But freshman Le'Bryan Nash scored eight straight to get OSU right back in it, and the Cowboys eventually held a two-point lead with about 30 seconds to play.

Tulsa forward Steven Idlet caught the ball completely alone in the post, but missed a wide-open layup with nine seconds to play that would have tied the game.

OSU missed several free throws down the stretch to let the Golden Hurricane stick around, but a potential game-tying 3-pointer from guard Scottie Haralson missed as time expired.

Oklahoma State had held a lead of 20-10 early, and after a Tulsa response, used an 8-2 run to finish out the first half with another 10-point lead.

But the Golden Hurricane's big run started with about 15:00 to play in the second half. Trailing 36-32, Tulsa outscored OSU 15-5 over the next seven minutes to hold a six-point lead. But TU couldn't keep it and lost yet another close game, dropping to 4-4 on the year.

Nash led all scorers in the game with 21 and senior Keiton Page added 15 as the only other Cowboy in double figures.

Oklahoma State was outrebounded and lost most of the statistical battles despite hanging on for the win.

Jordan Clarkson led TU with 18 points and Idlet had 13 points in the loss.

Tulsa will host Arizona State on Saturday at 3 p.m. while Oklahoma State (4-2) hosts Langston on Sunday at 5 p.m.
