Shattuck Shines Over Tipton To Win Class C Championship

Aaron McCandless and the Indians topped Tipton to win the eight-man championship.

Aaron McCandless scored three touchdowns as Shattuck defeated Tipton 26-6 for the state Class C eight-man championship Friday night at Southwestern Oklahoma State.

The quarterback scored on runs of 1, 2 and 19 yards to lead the Indians (12-1) to their eighth state title. McCandless rushed 19 times for 194 yards.

Kadyn Schick amassed 119 yards on 18 carries and ran 28 yards for a second-quarter score.

The Indians, who led 20-6 at halftime and never trailed, beat Temple 56-44 in the semifinals.

Tipton (11-3) picked up its only score when Kerry White threw a 48-yard pass to Dylan Simpson. White passed for 61 yards with two interceptions and was sacked twice. Josh Torres was limited to 63 yards on 22 carries.

The victory was Troy Bullard's last game as Shattuck's coach. He has resigned to enter private business.

Tipton was a 48-30 winner over Sharon-Mutual in the semis
