Oklahoma Falls To Ohio State 69-63

The Oklahoma Sooners suffered its second straight loss of the season in a 69-63 loss to the No. 17 Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday afternoon in Norman. 

Ohio State's Tayler Hill scored 20 points and Samantha Prahalis added 19 points, five assists and four rebounds to help the Buckeyes to the win and keep their 7-0 season intact.

The Buckeyes were up 7-0 before OU even took its first shot of the game and Ohio State made its first nine shots off of three pointers by Hill and Prahalis.

Less than seven minutes into the game the Buckeyes held a 23-10 advantage and at the half, Oklahoma trailed 41-33.

Oklahoma switched to a zone defense,  and the score to 59-58 with five minutes left but never took the lead.

Oklahoma made an improvement this game in the turnover margin. The Sooners turned the ball over 14 times against Ohio State- an improved number compared to the 24 and 26 turnovers in the last two contests.

OU went 6-for-18 from three point range while the Buckeyes made 4-of-10. Oklahoma out rebounded Ohio State 37-29.

"We played a little skittish at times but we also did some good things," said OU head coach Sherri Coale. "We didn't have as many turnovers and took care of the ball better."

Aaryn Ellenberg finished with 14 points, two rebounds and was 2-for-6 from three point range. Morgan Hook also scored 14 for the Sooners while Joanna McFarland had a big game inside for OU pulling down 16 rebounds and five points.

Ohio State held the advantage in the game with 50 percent shooting from the field compared to the Sooners 43 percent.

Ohio State was paced by Tayler Hill who scored 20 points and had five assists. Hill was aided by Samantha Prahalis who tallied 19 points, five assists and four rebounds.

Oklahoma will take on Fresno State on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 9:30 p.m.
