OKC Players Give Back With Holiday Assist Event

OKLAHOMA CITY – There isn't much that can make Kevin Durant smile more than a big win and a big scoring night, but the Thunder's team event on Tuesday topped it.

Always a big hit with players and families alike, Durant and his teammates hit up a local Super Target for the "Holiday Assist" event, helping out the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program.

The players were paired up with families and helped them shop around for everything from toys for the kids to food and supplies for the grandparents.

As one of the youngest teams in the NBA, many of the Thunder players still consider themselves nothing more than big kids.

Center Cole Aldrich entertained the kids by riding a pink child-sized bike around the store while other players couldn't help but try out some of the toys before putting them in the cart.

OKC players had a long day with the annual media day at the arena and training camp in full swing, but the Holiday Assist is an opportunity that guard Daequan Cook and his team said they can't miss.

"A lot of kids don't have this opportunity and for us to take advantage of it and spend a little time with kids like these, it's just amazing," He said. "Just to be able to bring a smile to their face."
