Roundtree To Coach Tulsa Running Backs At Bowl Game

Clint Roundtree will replace Holman Wiggins who left Tulsa for a similar job at Memphis.

University of Tulsa director of high school relations Clint Roundtree will take over for Holman Wiggins coaching the Golden Hurricane running backs at the Armed Forces Bowl later this month.

TU head coach Bill Blankenship confirmed the move Monday saying that Roundtree takes over for

Wiggins, who is leaving Tulsa to take a similar coaching job at Memphis.

Roundtree, a 2005 TU graduate, as appointed as the Director of High School Relations for the Golden Hurricane on January 21, 2011. He spent the 2010 campaign as a graduate assistant coach assisting with the linebackers.

During his playing career, Roundtree was a four-year letterwinner. He began his career as a receiver and moved over to the defensive secondary as a sophomore. Roundtree totaled 137 tackles in 48 career games while started 27 games for the Hurricane.

Before his time at Tulsa, Roundtree spent two seasons coaching the defensive secondary at Delta State University in Mississippi.

Holman Wiggins joins the University of Memphis staff under newly appointed coach Justin Fuente. Wiggins and Fuente coached together at Illinois State under current Tulsa Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Line Coach Denver Johnson.

Wiggins spent one season coaching the running backs at TU.

Blankenship said he will wait until after the first of the year to name a permanent replacement.

Tulsa takes on BYU in the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 30 in Dallas.
