TULSA, Oklahoma -

Police officers from Tulsa and surrounding cities gave the gift of technology to deserving kids and their families. It's part of the ninth annual North Pole Computer Project.

The donated computer's hard drives are wiped clean, and then operating systems and educational games are downloaded onto them by volunteers with Tulsa PC Power.

The computers make a huge difference for kids who would otherwise have limited access to a computer, which has become a necessity for succeeding at school.

"If the kids don't have them, they have to wait until they get to school, to a library or something. But now they will be ‘working from home' as they say, practicing a lot more and be caught up with things, and better prepared at school," said Tulsa Police Officer Jennifer Richert.

Officers from Bixby, Broken Arrow, Sand Springs and the Tulsa County Sheriff's office helped deliver the computers.

This program was started by Tulsa Police Officer Glenn Deweese, who has since passed away.
