Gundy Receives Second National Coach Of The Year Honor

Oklahoma State head football coach Mike Gundy has been named the 2011 National Coach of the Year by American Football Monthly.

The honor is the second national coach of the year award Gundy has received this month as he was also named the Eddie Robinson Award winner by the Football Writers Association of America.

Coach Gundy led Oklahoma State to its first Big 12 title, and first-ever BCS bowl appearance this season.

Since the start of 2009, Gundy has led the Cowboys to a 20-5 record in conference play and was also named the 2010Big 12 Coach of the Year.

Dating back to the start of the 2008 season, Gundy has led the Cowboys to 40 overall victories, which is the eighth-highest total in the nation during that time.

Since being named head coach in 2005, Gundy has either matched or improved the Cowboys' Big 12 win total every year.

Oklahoma State is in Glendale, Arizona preparing for the Fiesta Bowl game against Stanford on Jan. 2.
