A Goodwill Store is hoping to find the person who may have mistakenly made a large donation.

A worker at the store at 63830 E. Reno in Midwest City found what police describe as a substantial amount of money in a piece of clothing that had been donated. The worker immediately contacted a manager, who called police.

The charity isn't certain if the person the clothing belonged to intended to donate the money or left it there by mistake. Goodwill says it has received donations hidden in clothing before, but the organization wants to make sure the cash wasn't unintentionally given away.

"Our concern is that this money may be someone's savings that was either displaced or hidden and forgotten," Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

Anyone who thinks the money may belong to them has 90 days to make a claim. Police warn, however, that the person must prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the money belongs to them by revealing the exact amount that was found.

"Should it be determined someone is being untruthful about the claim, charges could be filed," Clabes said.

If you think the money may belong to you, call (405) 739-1333, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
