The 2011 college football season concluded Monday night with Alabama's 21-0 victory over LSU in the national championship game.

The win earned the Crimson Tide the No. 1 ranking in the final Coaches and AP Polls this season followed by LSU and Oklahoma State in third.

Alabama's shutout victory easily offset the Tigers' 9-6 win on Nov. 5 in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to propel the Tide to the top ranking.

Some speculated that if Alabama won there could be a split national championship, with the OSU Cowboys moving up, but this time it wasn't the case.

Although the Cowboys came in third, Oklahoma State actually received more first place voted in the AP Poll than LSU did.

The Crimson Tide received 54 first-place votes, No. 2 LSU received on and Big 12 Champion OSU received four first-place votes.

Even though the Cowboys had more first place votes in the AP Poll, they fell behind LSU in overall points.

The Tigers tallied 1425 final points to OSU's 1399.

In the Coaches Poll, Alabama received 59 first place votes and 1475 points followed by LSU with 1404 and Oklahoma State in third with 1367.

Alabama's No. 1 final poll ranking is the eighth time the Crimson Tide has been voted to the top spot at the end of the season. That ties Notre Dame for the most of any team in college football, after winning a rematch with LSU in the BCS championship on Monday night.

Oregon finished fourth and Arkansas was fifth, giving the SEC three of the top five teams in the country.

Southern Cal, Stanford, Boise State, South Carolina and Wisconsin round out the top 10.

They're followed by Michigan State, Michigan, Baylor, TCU, Kansas State, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Houston, Georgia and Southern Miss at No. 20.

Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida State, Nebraska, and Cincinnati took the final five spots.
