Several members of the Tulsa City Council expressed concern Tuesday about an Indian casino under construction in Broken Arrow - because a similar situation could develop in South Tulsa.

Council Worries About Rumored Casino In South Tulsa

Several members of the Tulsa City Council expressed concern Tuesday about an Indian casino under construction in Broken Arrow, because a similar situation could develop in south Tulsa.

District 8 City Councilor Phil Lakin said he's heard rumors - but nothing solid - about plans for a casino at 111th and Yale, and is most concerned that it doesn't appear the City could stop it.

"You lose property valuation; you lose a sense of place, community and everything else that comes with purposely deciding where you live," Lakin said.

Lakin said he started hearing concerns around Christmas and has tried to track down what's happening without success so far.

The Tulsa city council will consider a resolution opposing the Broken Arrow casino, at its next meeting.
