But one of those Marines pulled off a special surprise for his eight year old little girl this morning.

I was in Coweta for what she calls a dream come true, here on the Homefront.

At Southside Elementary in Coweta, the assembly doesn't seem out of the ordinary. Students pledge allegiance to the flag, and second grade girls are leading a rendition of "Oklahoma!"

"I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America."

The "rise and shine" assembly is pretty much a normal thing. But out there in the crowd of kids, there's a little girl, in for a big surprise.

For nine months, Kyle Provencher has been deployed to Afghanistan. But with the drawdown of troops, Provencher and 17 fellow Marines out of Broken Arrow, got to come home.

His daughter - out in the crowd - doesn't know it. That's the big surprise as Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Provencher makes his appearance.

Words often aren't needed at a time like this - outstretched arms from a child say it all. At 8 years old, it's hard to hold back tears when your daddy gets home from war.

"A dream come true, because I've been waiting for my dad to get home," said Coweta student Savanna Provencher.

Now he's home for good. That wasn't supposed to happen until March.

"I was like, ‘Is this real?'" his daughter said.

"I'm just surprised for her and that we were able to pull this off and surprise her. I thought surely someone was going to let the cat out of the bag," said Gunnery Sergeant Kyle Provencher.

Provencher says the toughest part about being deployed was being away from his wife and children.

"It's hard. You try to call home as much as you can, and we were able to Skype a few times while I was gone," he said.

So the assembly was a little out of the ordinary after all, and a Marine accomplishes another mission - with a little secrecy and help.

"My grandpa had a surprise for me, and I didn't know what it was," Savanna said. "I was just so antsy and I didn't know, and I was waiting for the day to get over so I would know what it was, and my surprise is here already."

Savanna says one of the first things she wants to do with her dad is go to the Zoo. She says this is one of the best school days ever.
