An 18-year-old Ponca City man was sent to the hospital after rolling his pickup when trying to avoid a deer. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

It happened early Sunday morning on U.S. 60, about six miles east of Ponca City in Osage County. Justin Jones was transported to the Ponca City Hospital in stable condition with leg, arm and trunk internal injuries.

Troopers said Jones was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Pickup, westbound on U.S. 60, when he swerved to avoid a deer. His vehicle then left the roadway to the left, rolled, and came to rest on its driver's side.

It is unknown if Jones was wearing a seatbelt at the time, according to the OHP collision report. Troopers have determined the cause of collision to be improper turn from direct course.
