The Oklahoma Water Resources board is loaning the City of Broken Arrow nearly $65 million so it can build a new water treatment plant and install a pipeline for drinking water.

The new plant will be on the south bank of the Verdigris River, east of 353rd East Avenue and 71st Street South.

The money is coming from the state's drinking water revolving fund and the agency's financial assistance program.

The agency says borrowing the money from the state will save Broken Arrow water customers more than $19 million in interest.
