The Tulsa Golden Hurricane officially added 20 players from the 2012 Class, as National Signing Day marks the first day high school seniors can sign Letters of Intent, two of which are already enrolled in classes at TU.
"I'm really excited about this recruiting class," head coach Bill Blankenship said in a press release. "I've never heard a coach not be excited about a class, but interms of what we bring from top to bottom, I think this is the deepest class in my tenure, even as an assistant coach here."
Tulsa's class is built mostly on home-grown talent, with 12 of the 20 hailing from the state of Oklahoma, including nine who earned all-state honors, including James Flanders, Blake Belcher, Damian Gibson and Conner Sherwood, all from successful Oklahoma High School programs.
"The learning curve is much shorter, much quicker for the guys that come from those kinds of championship programs," Blankenship said. "This is another year where you're going to be able to go down the list and see a lot of champions, a lot of runners-up, and a lot of teams with double-digit wins."
The Golden Hurricane will open up spring practice March 8 and play its first regular season game on the road Sept. 1 against Iowa State.
