Two Tulsa area state Representatives are asking all Oklahomans to pray for American Airlines employees and those making decisions at American that will impact AA families.

Representative David Derby (R-Owasso) and Eric Proctor (D-Tulsa) issued a bipartisan statement Friday.

"I believe in the power of prayer and as a state we need to be lifting up these families during this difficult time," David Derby said. "Community leaders should be standing together with one voice to save as many jobs as possible."

"To those of us in Tulsa and surrounding communities, American Airlines workers are our friends, neighbors and the families who sit next to us at Church," Eric Proctor said. "The man who is losing his job is not a Republican or a Democrat, he is our neighbor. During this difficult time community leaders should put party labels aside and replace them with cooperation, compassion and bipartisanship."

The lawmakers asked company and union leaders to work together to save as many jobs as possible.
