TULSA, Oklahoma -- A long-time Tulsa teacher is dead after a hit and run near 51st Street and Hudson. Susan Mamary, a teacher at Marquette Catholic School, was killed Sunday afternoon.

The driver of the other car involved in the deadly wreck ran from the scene. Tulsa Police have identified her as Marquita Littlebear, 29.

Mamary was in her 18th year of teaching 3rd graders at the School. Her principal calls her a "dynamo," someone who "was loved by all."

Carrie Benton's son was in Ms. Mamary's class last year.

"From day one she took interest in your child and loved your child, more importantly," she said.

Police say Mamary was eastbound on 51st Street when she slowed down for a Mustang driving southbound on Hudson Place.  Police say she turned left after the Mustang cleared and was struck by Littlebear's car, which was westbound on 51st.

Mamary, 60, was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa.

Charges are pending against Littlebear as investigators await blood screening results. Pending charges are leaving the scene of a fatality and driving under the influence. She could potentially be charged with manslaughter.

Littlebear does not have a driver's license. There were two people in the car with her, both children.

Littlebear's criminal record dates to at least 1997 when she was convicted of reckless driving and not having a driver's license. She paid a $205 fine. In 2003 it was a DUI and no driver's license and a fine of $300.

In 2006 she was convicted of public intoxication and fined more than a $1,000.

Benton says Ms. Mamary's impact on Marquette is immeasurable, always at the school and always helping her kids. She says, now more than ever, prayer will help the school heal.

"You never know when God has called people home. It was her time to go home and she's going to do greater things there. We need to pray and remember her the best way possible," Benton said.

Police are looking for the people who were in the Mustang, they're not considered suspects but police would like to talk with them.

Ms. Mamary is survived by her mother and two adult children.
