CHOCTAW, Oklahoma -

As the icy fog began lifting Tuesday morning, a driver called 911 saying a body was in the ditch on Henney Road.

OSBI says the victim is 29-year-old Robert Lynn Coy.

Choctaw police say Coy's body was found on the east side of the rural road, near the second entrance to a park and trail parking lot in Choctaw.

"I just come up on a car stopped in the road and when I stopped I seen the body lying in the ditch," said Mike Winfrey. "I couldn't tell if it was a man or woman."

Mike Winfrey was on his way to work at his shop in Choctaw and feared a jogger had been hit by a car in the dense fog.

The car in front of Mike called police when they saw the victim near N.E. 23rd Street and Henney. At first, neighbors and business owners News 9 talked to all thought it was an accidental hit and run in the thick fog.

"Emergency crews were coming up about that time," he said.

Choctaw police Chief Conny Clay confirmed the death with news crews around 11:30 a.m. but said it was no accident.

"Most definitely not a hit and run," Chief Clay said.

SkyNews 9 flew over the scene where Chief Clay says Coy was killed sometime between midnight and early Tuesday morning.

Police are investigating if Coy's body was put in the ditch on Henney Rd. or if this is where the crime occurred.

Authorities said because there were obvious signs of trauma on the body, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is investigating Coy's death as a homicide

"With the dense fog last night it's not difficult that no one saw him," Chief Clay said.

Mike Winfrey must now drive back home after work and hopes, someone is caught and everyone in Choctaw is safe.

"I live two miles south of here and so it's close to the neighborhood," Winfrey said.

The official cause and manner of death will come from the medical examiner's office once an autopsy is complete, according to the OSBI.

Agents are also looking for a missing car believed to be driven by Coy at the time of his death. The car is described as a 2002, gold colored Mercedes-Benz C32 with license plate 384AXQ.

Choctaw Police said this is their first homicide investigation in four years.

If you know anything about this crime, call Choctaw police or OSBI.
