UPDATE:  According to court documents the charges against Lisa Crosslin have been dismissed and her probation has been terminated.

ORIGINAL STORY:  The woman recently hired to lead Deer Creek Intermediate School for the 2012 - 2013 school year has stepped down before her first day, and she says a nasty divorce is to blame.

Lisa Crosslin would have been leading close to 700 students and teachers in a new school for fifth- and sixth-grade students. Instead, the Edmond resident resigned because she's now facing criminal charges in Colorado.

According to a district attorney out of Colorado, Crosslin has been charged with burglary and theft. Prosecutors said she was not arrested, but was served a felony summons because she's living out of state. The Edmond Sun reports her first court appearance is scheduled for March 20.

News 9 contacted Crosslin and she released this statement:

"These are unfortunate events related to an ugly divorce, and sometimes property disputes are a part of a nasty process. I am the exclusive owner of the property in Colorado. However, because I respect the Deer Creek School District, I didn't want to put them in the middle of a domestic dispute."

Deer Creek School officials say Crosslin's replacement will be named at the next special meeting of the Deer Creek Board of Education.
