Over thirty of Oklahoma's Finest are back home this week after serving in Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Thirty-two members of Oklahoma's 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team were released back to their families in a short ceremony at Norman's Armed Forces Reserve Center.

Governor Mary Fallin joined Maj. General Myles Deering in welcoming back the troops.  They thanked the troops and their families for their sacrifices.

Army Specialist Devon Kershner made a beeline to his new daughter as soon as the troops were dismissed.

"I actually didn't get to see her born," said Kershner.  "It's awesome to see her again."

Kershner's daughter Desiree was born about four months after he left the country.  Kershner's wife Lauren was excited to see her husband take on the role of new father.

"She's getting bigger," said Lauren of her daughter.  "He's got a lot to catch up on."

Army Specialist Nicholas Harper was also happy to get re-acquainted with his young daughter Skye.

"I was here when she was born and then I had to leave when she was about six months old," said Harper.  "It was tough but I'm glad I'm home now."

Harper's wife Danica described the almost-thirty-minute wait to see her husband.  She could only see part of him from where she was sitting.

"A little nerve-racking sitting there waiting," said Danica.  "I could see the back of him, but I wanted to see the front of him."
