A routine license plate check by Tulsa Police resulted in recovering a vehicle stolen from Oklahoma City.

About 1 a.m. on Saturday, a suspicious vehicle was spotted by TPD near Pine Street and Harvard Avenue. Tulsa Police Sergeant Steve Stoltz ran the license plate number, and when it turned up stolen, initiated a traffic stop.

The driver sped through into the surrounding neighborhood, leading the officer on a chase that lasted about a mile, before ramping the Chrysler Pacifica over railroad tracks and crashing into a ditch near Pittsburg Avenue and Dawson Road.

The suspect exited the wrecked vehicle and fled, but another officer apprehended him within minutes.

The driver was arrested at the scene.
