Cowgirls Continue To Falter, Fall To Texas A&M

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls' conference struggles continued Saturday, falling to the Texas A&M Aggies 63-49, their third consecutive conference loss, and their ninth of the season.

The Aggies jumped out to a big lead to open the game and never looked back. The Aggies scored the first six points of the game, putting the Cowgirls in a hole early. That six-point burst expanded into a 17-4 run, eight coming from Adaora Elonu, spanning the first 10 minutes of the game.

Oklahoma State cut the lead in the closing minutes of the second half, doubling up the Aggies in the final five minutes of the first half to cut the deficit to 24-18 heading into the locker room.

Texas A&M came out of the locker room firing and put the Cowgirls in a hole yet again, scoring the first nine points of the second half to take a 33-18 three minutes into the half. Oklahoma State responded with a 6-2 run to cut into the lead, but the Aggies tagged them back with an 11-2 run to take a 46-25 lead with 10 minutes left on the clock.

OSU was able to cut the lead to nine late in the game, but was unable to get any closer and fell to the Aggies.

The Aggies had two players that turned in double-doubles, with Elonu finishing with a game-high 19 points, 11 boards – six coming on offense – two assists and two steals, while Tyra White scored 11 points, 13 rebounds – six on offense as well – two assists and two steals. Bone also was a big contributor for TAMU, finishing with 18 points and five boards.

Oklahoma State had just one player score in double figures, Tiffany Bias turning in an 11-point output, no other Cowgirl scored more than seven points.

The Cowgirls will now attempt to stop the bleeding at 7 p.m. Wednesday against the Kansas State Wildcats on the road.
