After having one game rained out Saturday, the Tulsa Golden Hurricane split a double-header Sunday, topping UTSA 3-2 in extra innings, but losing the nightcap to Texas A&M 5-1, falling to 5-2 on the season.

In the early game, the Roadrunners got on the board first, with a leadoff homerun from Ashley Kappler to take a 1-0 lead. The lead held until the top of the seventh, but Skylar Swanson responded with a one-out homerun to force extras.

In the top of the eighth, Shelby Blanton was placed on second base to start the inning, and advanced to third thanks to a sacrifice bunt. Cierra Hughes followed with a single to bring her home and take a 2-1 lead. Two at-bats later, Hughes scored on a throwing error at second base.

Aimee Creger came away with a win for the outing, giving up just three hits in eight innings and two earned runs, the solo home run in the first and a one-out sac fly in the bottom of the eighth.

Texas A&M pitcher Mel Dumezich kept the Golden Hurricane offense on lockdown in the second game, giving up just six hits and one earned run in seven innings, striking out nine. Her only earned run of the game came in the top of the second on a two-out RBI single to down the left field line.

The Aggies took the lead in the top of the fourth thanks to two unearned runs, a throwing error by the catcher and a two-out RBI single in the next at-bat. After opening the sixth inning with an error, the Aggies racked up three more runs in back-to-back at-bats, an RBI single by Taran Tyler and an RBI double from Cassie Tysarczyk to make it a four-run lead.

Tulsa will take five days off before heading to Boca Raton, Florida to participate in the FAU "Strike Out Cancer Classic," a five-game weekend tournament.
