Sooners Down Cowboys In Bedlam Showdown

The Oklahoma Sooners snapped a six-game losing streak Wednesday night with a Beldam victory over Oklahoma State 77-64.

Steven Pledger scored 17 points while Romero Osby tallied a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds on the night.

The Sooners set the pace in the first half with strong defense and limited Oklahoma State to 4-of-24 from the field in the first half.

Midway through the opening half, OSU had just as many turnovers (five) as they did points.

The Sooners led 30-12 at halftime as the Cowboys set a school record for fewest points in a half against a Big 12 foe.

OSU came out surging in the second and cut the margin to three points with 12 minutes remaining. The Cowboys shot 50 percent in the second half, but it wasn't enough to combat the Sooners intense late game scoring.

In the final 10 minutes of play, the Cowboys missed two game-tying 3-pointers and OU's Pledger netted 10 points to lead the Sooners to victory.

Oklahoma State (13-15, 6-9) has lost three of its last four games, yet Keiton Page continues to lead the Cowboys night in and night out. Page led all scorers with 29 points.

Meanwhile, four Sooners finished in double figures. Pledger led with 17 followed by Osby's 16, Cameron Clark with 14 and Sam Grooms who added 10.

OSU's Le'Bryan Nash hit the floor hard in the second and inured his wrist. During the post game interviews head coach Travis Ford said his arm will be evaluated further tomorrow but did say they were 'worried' about the injury.

Oklahoma (14-13, 4-11) shot 46.8 percent from the floor and 45.4 percent from behind the arc on the night. The Sooner handily out rebounded OSU 47-32 and came up with seven blocks on the night.

The Sooners go on the road to face Baylor on Saturday Feb. 25 at 12:30 while OSU moves on to host Texas A&M Saturday at 1 p.m.
