A veteran Muskogee police officer wants a grand jury to look into allegations of misconduct at the district attorney's office.

AJ Rudd, who faced charges of making violent threats against the Muskogee police department that were later dropped, petitioned to have a grand jury look into District Attorney Larry Moore.

Rudd is accusing Moore and his office of failing to investigate a molestation case because the accused in the case paid Moore off, according to court papers filed Thursday.

According to the documents, Muskogee resident Charlie Fulton was referred to Moore's office in 2008 for possible prosecution on allegations he sexually molested a 3-year-old girl.

Read the petition filing.

Rudd says no charges were ever filed in the case and alleges Moore received money from Fulton to drop the investigation.

Rudd further alleges that Moore conspired to indict him for the felony offense of planning to perform an act of violence.  Rudd was charged with that offense last October but a judge threw out the charges Thursday.

If a judge approves his petition, Rudd will have to collect enough signatures to convene a grand jury.

District Attorney Larry Moore made the following statement:

"Should a grand jury be impaneled my office will cooperate fully and assist them in any way necessary. I am confident that the grand jury will appreciate our prosecutorial efforts to ensure justice for all citizens and not just for a select few."
