Cowboys Stay Alive With 76-60 Win Over Texas Tech

The Oklahoma State Cowboys continue on in the Big 12 tournament after a much improved second half of play that downed Texas Tech 76-60 Thursday night in Kansas City.

Cezar Guerrero netted all of his 16 points in the second half including back-to-back three pointers to silence a Texas Tech run and put the game away for good.

After shooting just 14.3 percent from 3-point range and 45.8 percent from the field in the first half, several Cowboys came alive to take the lead and control of the fast paced contest.

Early on, Texas Tech had turnover troubles with five in the first 4:30 of the game. Oklahoma State built a 13-2 lead after the Red Raiders had managed only 1-for-6 from the floor.

The Pokes pushed the pace and Brian Williams early eight points helped OSU lead 32-27 at the half.

Three quick buckets by the Red Raiders out of the break helped Texas Tech go on a 9-3 run and take an advantage at 36-35.

Guerrero's back-to-back three pointers silenced the Red Raider attack and from there on out the Cowboys never relinquished the lead.

The Red Raiders foul troubles got serious with less than ten minutes to play as Jordan Tolbert was the second to foul out with 4:40 to play.

Keiton Page led all scorers with 20 points while Williams tallied 19 and Guerrero finished with 16.

Even though Texas Tech shot much better in the second half from the field, their 18 turnovers proved to be the difference as Oklahoma State capitalized and scored 31 points off the loose balls.

Tolbert paced the Red Riders with 16 points and Jaye Crockett recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Overall, OSU shot 57.1 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from 3-point range.

Oklahoma State will face No. 2 Missouri Thursday at 7 p.m. inside Kansas City's Sprint Center.
