Tulsa police announced they have additional evidence against a man they say sexually assaulted five women.

Sex Crimes Sergeant Mark Mears of the Tulsa Police Department made the announcement at a news conference Monday morning.

Michael Ray Harris was arrested on January 27, 2012, for the kidnapping and rape of one young woman.

"Kind of makes your job worthwhile. We get out and try to help these victims who've been raped and sexually assaulted. Makes you feel real good," remarked Tulsa Police Officer Scott Allison, who made the arrest.

Police say Harris, 46, was riding his bicycle near 72nd East Avenue and Admiral Place on January 27, 2012, when he saw a 17-year-old girl walking and stopped to talk to her.

Detectives say the girl tried to walk away from Harris, but he pulled her behind a business and sexually assaulted her.

In some of the other assaults, he offered to give women rides in a car then drove to other locations where he raped them, according to arrest records.

Mears said Harris attacked his first victim on November 1, 2011. Additional assaults Harris has been linked to took place on November 6 and 17, 2011, December 7, 2011, and January 27 when he was taken into custody, police say.

Harris is a convicted sex offender who was supposed to register with law enforcement once a year until 2022, according to reports. He had not registered with any law enforcement agency since 2010.

Police made the announcement at the same time they identified a suspect in the LaFortune park rape case.
