A North Tulsa home is considered a total loss after going up in flames early Friday morning.

Firefighters say a man walking his dogs noticed an orange glow near 62nd Place North and Denver and called 911.

Once firefighters arrived, they found a house fully involved.

It appears the home has been vacant for several months. Tulsa Fire says the cause of the fire is suspicious.

No one was hurt and investigators are now trying to figure out what started that fire.

News On 6 learned this is the first major fire for Tulsa firefighter James O'Neal, who recently returned to work after being injured during a house fire on New Year's Day.

O'Neal was fighting a similar fire on New Year's Eve when his breathing equipment failed.

When fellow firefighters pulled him from that fire, O'Neal wasn't breathing.

Going back into a burning house Friday wasn't a decision he took lightly.

"Just a little more cautious, like I said, took more awareness of my surroundings," O'Neal said. "Make sure I knew where the exits were; always had them in my sight."

O'Neal has been back on the job for about a month, but this is first time he's been in this type of fire again.
