A Shawnee man arrested on burglary and other complaints in a case involving stolen property and a pipe bomb now faces formal felony charges.

Mike Louis Gettle, 49, is charged in Pottawatomie County District Court with felonies of knowingly concealing stolen property, possession of incendiary explosive, possession of stolen copper, possession of controlled dangerous substance and a misdemeanor of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies arrested Gettle February 26 as part of an investigation involving stolen property, days after they found a pipe bomb in a barn on property where Gettle resides.

Charges alleged Gettle concealed a stock trailer and a black flatbed trailer that had both been stolen. He's also accused of being in possession of an explosive device and being in possession of stolen copper.

For the drug counts, he is accused of having marijuana and methamphetamine, along with paraphernalia.

The investigation into the case began in late February after sheriff's deputies noticed a truck with a missing headlight leaving the residence where Gettle resides at in the 45000 block of Highway 3. A traffic stop was made and deputies discovered the person driving the truck was hauling a stolen trailer out of Seminole County.

Deputies confiscated stolen items and later served an arrest warrant at the property, which Gettle shares with his mother.

That is when deputies found a pipe bomb and briefly called off the search until the Oklahoma County Bomb Squad arrived on the scene and detonated that pipe bomb. Deputies Eric Fletcher, Randy Holt and Matt Byers worked this case.

Gettle's next court date on these charges hasn't yet been scheduled.
