Oklahoma State signee Marcus Smart has been awarded the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year for boys basketball.
Smart, a 6'4, 220 pound small forward, helped Flower Mound Marcus High School to a 39-2 record and their second-straight Class 5A state championship this season.
He averaged 15.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, five assists, 2.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game and was also named the 2011 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 5A Player of the Year.
The senior is now a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Texas. He signed a letter of intent to play at OSU in September of 2011.
Earlier this year, he was nominated to the McDonald's All-American game as a shooting guard for the West team.
In the classroom, Smart has maintained a B average and is expected to join the Cowboys at Oklahoma State in the fall.
Smart also had college offers from North Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma.
