One man is dead and another in critical condition after a Friday night wreck in south Tulsa. Emergency personnel responded to the fatality crash along 101st Street South between Yale and Harvard at about 9:30 p.m.

Police say the driver was going very fast over a hill, tried to avoid another car and crashed into a tree. The male passenger was killed.

The driver passed another westbound car in the valley between hills then swerved to avoid oncoming traffic, according to Corporal Mark Secrist of the Tulsa Police Department.

The road was closed down as advanced traffic investigators were called to the scene. The male driver was taken to a local hospital where EMSA reports he is in critical condition.

It is not known whether alcohol was involved.

"Dark road, lots of hills, too fast a speed is what we're dealing with right now," Secrist said Friday night.

No names have been released.
