A 1-year-old Perkins girl lost both parents in a wreck Friday evening in Payne County. The collision took place at 5:16 p.m. at the intersection of State Highways 33 and 99, about four miles east of Cushing.

Jennifer Schad, 26, was behind the wheel of a 2009 Chevrolet HHR that was northbound on State Highway 99. The vehicle failed to yield from the stop and pulled into the path of a 1996 Chevrolet S10 pickup driven by an 18-year-old Bristow man, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Schad and her husband, 25-year-old Matthew Schad, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Their 1-year-old daughter was taken by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital where she was admitted for observation, the trooper's report states.

Austin Elmore, the driver of the pickup, was treated and released at the Cushing hospital for head, arm and leg injuries.

Matthew Schad was not wearing a seatbelt; all others involved in the wreck were in safety restraints. Jennifer Schad was in apparently normal condition at the time of the collision, according to OHP Trooper Darren Potter.
