LAWRENCE, Kansas – The Jayhawks were only able to get runners across the plate in one inning on Saturday afternoon, but that's all it took in a 3-2 win against the Cowgirls.
A big third inning for Kansas erased an otherwise excellent day in the circle from OSU's Simone Freeman.
She gave up just three hits on the day, with two of them along with all three runs coming in the third inning. Freeman threw the complete game.
OSU got on the board first in the top of the first inning as Tamara Brown grounded out to bring home Ari Morrison.
The Cowgirls' other run of the day came in the fifth inning, when Morrison reached home again, this time on a single from Chelsea Garcia.
But Kansas' three-run third inning was simply too much for Oklahoma State to overcome as it fell to 15-12 overall and remained winless in Big 12 play at 0-2.
Kansas jumped to 22-5 overall and 2-3 in conference.
The Cowgirls and Jayhawks will finish out their series on Sunday at Noon in Lawrence.
