NORMAN, Oklahoma – After an OU win on Friday, Kansas State was able to even the series with an 8-7 win on Saturday.

The Sooners scored all seven of their runs in a two-inning span, and couldn't do enough in the field to slow down the Wildcats' bats.

OU's Hunter Lockwood was responsible for five of those seven runs, with those five RBIs in the game being a career high for him.

Oklahoma fell behind early as it allowed two runs in the second and two runs in the third inning.

But Lockwood started the scoring off for the Sooners with a double from Lockwood to plate two runs. Caleb Bushyhead followed that up with an RBI single to center field to make it 4-3, KSU.

Kansas State responded with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth inning to regain the lead, but OU was prepared to respond once again.

Lockwood came through again with a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game. It was Lockwood's eighth homer of the year, which tops the Big 12.

And an RBI single from Jack Mayfield finally gave the Sooners their first lead of the day at 7-6.

But after two scoreless innings, Kansas State was able to put on the final touches as they managed two runs off of OU reliever Steven Okert.

Okert picked up the loss in 2.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on two hits.

Dillon Overton got the start for Oklahoma but gave up 10 runs and six hits in 6.2 innings.

OU fell to 17-11 overall and 3-5 in Big 12 play, while Kansas State upped its record to 14-12 (3-5).

The final game of the series is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
