A motorcycle crash in Custer County claimed the life of a Watonga woman this weekend.

The crash happened at 6:24 p.m. Saturday on State Highway 33, about six miles east of Butler in Custer County.

A 2000 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 51-year-old Mark Westphal was eastbound on Highway 33 when its rear tire blew. Westphal then lost control of the motorcycle and it rolled one quarter time.

The passenger on the motorcycle, 47-year-old Diana Westphal, was transported to OU Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries Saturday night. She died at the hospital Sunday morning.

Mark Westphal was transported to Clinton Hospital with head and arm injuries. He was treated and released.

Troopers said Mark Westphal was wearing a helmet, but Diana Westphal was not wearing one. Mark Westphal was in apparent normal condition at the time of the crash, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report.

The cause of the collision was listed as "unsafe vehicle- tires."
