Thanks to yet another strong outing from pitcher Keilani Ricketts lifted the Oklahoma Sooners to a 2-1 win Thursday over the Texas Tech Red Raiders, their fifth consecutive conference win.

The junior right-hander pitched a complete-game for Oklahoma, giving up just one hit and one earned run – a solo home run in the top of the first – striking out 11 batters in the process. Kelsey Dennis (2-1) only managed to pitch one-third of an inning, giving up two runs – just one earned – on one hit in her outing.

Trailing by one run in the bottom of the fourth, Brianna Turang knocked a single – the first of three consecutive – to load the bases with one out on the board. Destinee Martinez then grounded out to the pitcher, allowing Turang to score and tie the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Keilani Ricketts drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a Jessica Shults single in the next at-bat. Georgia Casey reached on a fielding error in the next at-bat, allowing Ricketts to come home from second and take a 2-1 advantage.

Two at-bats later, Brianna Turang reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Jessica Shults to come home and push the advantage to two runs.

The Oklahoma Sooners will try to make it back-to-back over the Red Raiders at 7 p.m. Saturday in the second game of the series.
