A Lawton man was killed trying to run from law enforcement officers, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

David Thomas Joseph Lucas, 29, lost control of his car while attempting to elude troopers at about 1:16 p.m. Friday. The fatality wreck took place on Kildaire Road about a mile east of Kildaire city limits in Kay County.

Lucas was eastbound on Kildaire Road when he lost control of his Impala. The car went into a broadslide into a residential yard where it slammed into a large tree, according to the trooper's report.

Lucas was trapped in the car for about 20 minutes before being freed by Kildaire and Ponca City Fire Departments with the jaws of life. He was in critical condition when he was taken to a Ponca City hospital where he died of his injuries, the report states.

A passenger in his 2009 Chevrolet Impala, 21-year-old Jordan Adam Carden, was injured. The trooper's report says he is in good condition.

Results of a toxicology report on Lucas are pending. The report lists the cause of the wreck as attempting to elude.
