TULSA, Oklahoma -

Close to 100 people gathered in Veteran's Park to honor some of Oklahoma's Own who gave their all for their country.

On this Medal of Honor Day, Oklahomans were reminded of the sacrifice and bravery of those who died for us.

Speakers talked about honor and service, but one Tulsa Eagle Scout understands better than most. He never knew his grandfather, a Medal of Honor recipient. That's because his grandfather died saving others in Vietnam long before he was ever born.

On Saturday, he told the crowd what it really means to be a hero.

The Medal of Honor is the military's highest honor. And, one veteran who's also earned the medal says it can be a hard thing to live up to.

"I've heard this comment before, you know a lot of times it's harder to wear than it is to earn. And, I find that true a lot of times. Sometimes people want you to be the way they think you're supposed to be and I've got to be myself," said Sergeant Major Kenneth Stumpf.

Veterans were treated to a special breakfast and a re-enactment group set up displays complete with military vehicles and equipment dating back to World War II.
