A resident of the Westport Apartments near the Arkansas River was the victim of a home invasion early Saturday morning. The apartment complex is located in the 1700 block of South Jackson.

Police say the man heard a knock at his door at about 4 a.m. He told police it was too dark to see out the peep hole, and when he opened the door he was hit in the face with the butt of a sawed-off shotgun.

Two men pushed their way into the apartment, telling the resident to stay face down on the floor. They threatened to shoot him if he moved, officers say.

The men rummaged through the apartment, leaving with a laptop, some prescription medications and cash.

The apartment resident was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
