OKLAHOMA CITY -

A rally at the state capitol Saturday ended a yearlong campaign by the Oklahoma Education Association to bring attention to what they say is a major problem in Oklahoma: funding.

"I don't know what more to say. I don't know how much louder I can scream it. We need help," said Tulsa Memorial high school teacher, Merrie Wolf.

Teachers say more money from the state legislature would be the biggest help, because students are not getting what they need.

"No, I don't think we're getting them what they need but the teachers are trying," Wolf said.

"We're racing towards last in the nation in Oklahoma. I don't think the general public realizes that," Taft Middle School Teacher, Heather Sparks said.  "Arkansas more than doubles what we spend on education. That's a huge concern for me as a teacher, and parent and taxpayer."

Sparks got in the rally to show support for great teachers across the state, but most of all the students in their classrooms.

"Someone's gotta stand up for education. It's time. A flat budget is unacceptable," said Wolf. "We need legislative help in place to help our students."

Teachers at the rally say residents can help the cause by writing your legislators.
