TULSA, Oklahoma -

A Tulsa Police officer and US Marine who was killed in action while serving in Iraq is being remembered this week as his fellow police officers and 4 Marines walk from Tulsa to Stillwater.

Jared Shoemaker was killed in 2006 while serving in Iraq.

This is the third year for the Jared Shoemaker Memorial Walk, which is a fundraiser for Special Olympics.

Those participating left Tulsa Monday morning and are expected to arrive in Stillwater on Wednesday.

Donations are welcome with 100 percent of the money raised going to Special Olympics in Oklahoma.
