TULSA, Oklahoma -

The U.S. Postal Service has changed its mind on closing or consolidating of almost 3,700 post offices nationwide, including more than 50 in Oklahoma.

U.S. Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe says they will work to keep many of the rural post offices open with shorter hours.

Previously, the low-revenue post offices were slated for closure or consolidation next week as part of a multi-billion dollar cost cutting effort to keep the Postal Service out of bankruptcy.
