The Baylor Bears had not lost a conference matchup all season, but the Oklahoma Sooners took not one, but two games from BU, sweeping a doubleheader 1-0 and 2-1 Saturday, both dominated by pitchers.

In the opening game, Oklahoma starter Jordan John pitched a gem, giving just five hits and striking out five in his 8.2 innings of service. However, he was pulled in the ninth, opening the door for Steven Okert (6-6) to pick up a win, giving up one hit in 1.1 innings of service.

Dillon Newman (3-2) was credited with a loss for his work, giving just two hits and one earned run in two-thirds of an inning.

Oklahoma scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the tenth, after Evan Mistich hit a leadoff single, Eric Ross brought him home via an RBI single to center field.

Jonathan Gray (7-4) was just as dominant in the second game of the doubleheader, giving just five hits and striking out nine in his 7.1 innings of service. Trent Blank (9-2) received a loss for his work, giving up one earned run on six hits in eight innings.

The Sooners jumped out to a lead early in the game, scoring both of their runs in the first two innings of the game.

Cody Reine led off the game with a triple to left center and Max White followed with a single to take a 1-0 advantage. In the bottom of the second, Jack Mayfield hit a leadoff single and Caleb Bushyhead brought him home three at-bats later to take a 2-1 lead.

Oklahoma will try to pull off the series sweep at 1 p.m. Saturday, before a mid-week matchup against TCU at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
