TULSA COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Construction crews will begin closing lanes along the Creek Turnpike Monday evening. Crews will widen the highway from two lanes to three lanes in each direction from U.S. Highway 75 to Memorial Drive.

The project's timetable calls for completion in 450 days, but the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says it could take up to a year, depending on weather and other variables.

The OTA raised money for the $57 million project through the sale of bonds.

Tolls collected on the Creek Turnpike will in turn repay the bonds, so no taxpayer money gets spent.

Because of the construction, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the speed limit in the construction area will drop to 55 mph.

Construction crews are closing the on-ramp to I-244 from Southwest Boulevard at 23rd Street Monday.

It's part of the bridge work that is being done.

Because of the work, a detour is set up along Southwest Boulevard to the 40th Street on-ramp. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says drivers wanting to get onto U.S. Highway 75 should find a different route.
