Gradually warmer temperatures along with little or no mention of rain will prevail right on into the coming weekend.

As you can see from the map on the right, courtesy of the OK Mesonet, our day certainly got off to a nice, relatively cool start. Light northerly winds throughout the day along with mostly sunny to partly cloudy afternoon skies should result in daytime highs near normal for this time of year which is around the 80 degree mark. As was the case yesterday, a few isolated showers will be possible during the afternoon hours, but the chances of any one location getting wet will be less than 20% and any showers that do form will quickly dissipate with the setting sun.

Light winds and fair skies tonight will allow for another pleasant start to our day Tuesday with temperatures generally running in the mid 50s. Tuesday afternoon will see lots of sunshine and with the surface high pressure ridge drifting over the state, our winds will be light and variable for much of the day. However, with full sun for most of the day, look for afternoon temperatures to be a little warmer with daytime highs in the lower 80s.

After that, the rest of the week will see warmer temperatures as our winds will be returning to a southerly direction on Wednesday and a brisk south wind is then expected right on through the weekend. However, moisture return will be meager so we should have generally fair night time skies and mostly sunny skies during the day along with no mention of rain until perhaps late Sunday. Look for our overnight lows to be moderating into the 60s and daytime highs reaching the mid-80s by the latter part of the week. Mostly sunny skies will be the general rule and our rain chances will be in the slim to none category until perhaps late Sunday.

The GFS has come around to the ECMWF solution of bringing in a cool front Monday and we could see some showers or storms in advance of that late Sunday or that night. This does not currently appear to be a big rainmaker for us, but at least there will be a chance and we will certainly need the moisture by then. As mentioned yesterday, we are behind on our May rainfall and with a warm, dry week ahead we will be even further behind by the next time we get a chance.

As always, stay tuned and check back for updates.
