News 9's Road Trip continues as we meet a 70-year-old horse jockey who still races right here in Oklahoma. We talked to the Blanchard man about why age is just a number.

Roy Brooks says jockeying is all about how you start.

"I actually won the first race I rode," he said.

Brooks is a 70-year-old horse jockey who still races at Remington Park. He started when he was 25 years old when his family bought some race horses.

"My dad bought some race horses in the middle 60's," said Brooks. "I decided one day, well I'm small enough, I can ride those things."

Since his first win, Brooks has won countless races and lots of awards and trophies. He just rode in another race at Remington Park last Thursday.

Now as the veteran jockey among young 20-something riders, Brooks says he is just grateful to be able to ride.

"It's just exciting to be in a race at my age," Brooks said.

So what is his secret for still being able to jockey at the age of 70?

"Staying active for one thing," he said.

Brooks also says age is all in your mind. Roy's age isn't slowing him down. He actually came in second in the race he rode in last Thursday.
