May Daze

Last Friday I got the opportunity to tag along with News 9's Road Trip Oklahoma team, as they headed out to Blanchard, OK for May Daze! May Daze marks the unofficial start of summer in Blanchard, even though I think Mother Nature kicked off the unofficial start of summer a few weeks ago with the above normal temperatures we've been experiencing – I digress.

People didn't seem to mind the abundant sunshine and temperatures in the upper 80s, as they migrated from tent to tent seeking food, fun, trinkets and apparel. The winds, however, did catch everyone's attention and blew it into the text next to them! Meteorologist Lacey Swope and I pitted our skills against one another in television and movie song trivia with Lacey proving I didn't watch a lot of television shows from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, and for that matter she didn't either! Now, the movie song trivia went a bit differently with me sweeping both contests. Yes, I am a movie buff.

Speaking of buff, once we saw Jed Castles' and Bobbie Miller's picture of them sporting Road Trip Oklahoma temporary tattoos on their arms, Lacey and I felt compelled to do the same. Not like we were being competitive or anything.

I really enjoy getting to participate with New 9's Road Trip Oklahoma. It gives me the opportunity to meet some great Oklahomans, and enjoy festivals, events and landmarks that are unique to this state. Okay, getting to pig out on some the best eats this state has to provide is also a very, very large plus!
